Where can I find 1:1 Mentoring by Experts?
Every business is unique. Every business owner is unique.
So why are so many approaches to business coaching and mentoring built on the premise that all business journey's are the same?It is important to remember different people require different environments to feel comfortable. We place little emphasis on all of the inevitable missteps and failures that essentially helped us to course correct or created serendipitous opportunities and connections that otherwise would have remained undiscovered.
Why is this mentoring initiative different to other Office Hours / Entrepreneur in Residence offerings?
This is not business or growth coaching, but rather mentoring with a problem based focus. It will help scaling small to medium enterprises and startups anticipate risks of scaling up, establishing their supply chain, and reducing execution risk. This not an Accelerator Program. Our pool of mentors are experts experienced with the unique challenges of scaling a company in different industry verticals.
What kind of businesses are we looking for?
We are looking for startups and scaling SMEs, who are beyond the proof of concept stage / early prototyping stage.
Applications will first be screened for eligibility. The EIR program is supported by Melton City Council funding, as such, first preference will be given to participants who are based in the City of Melton, but we do encourage those based in other areas of Melbourne’s West to apply.
We will then evaluate applications based on the product/service and the challenges/pain points for which mentoring is being sought. Additionally, depending on the type of product/service and where the applicant is in the business development journey, we may look for evidence that there are potential customers for this product.
There is no cost to access the Expert In Residence program. Experts providing mentoring will be paid for their time by program funding received from the City of Melton
Equity & Intellectual PropertyWestern BACE is a not-for-profit, community-driven company. We do not take equity or ownership of Intellectual Property.
Who are the experts?Part of Western BACE’s role is content curation, including sourcing of experts. We have a pool of experts in our network to draw upon that has been built organically over the past 5 years. Experts will vary depending on the industry vertical and needs of program participants, which is the secret formula that makes this mentoring program unique. We will match mentors based on how well they can address the specific pain points of the participants to ensure that high value, impactful mentoring occurs.
Mentoring will be delivered one-on-one either via face to face sessions or via phone/video conference. There may be potential for mentoring to be conducted on-site at the premise.
